Demographic change is also leading to a shift in the age structure of Germany’s working population. The proportion of older workers is rising, while the physical demands of the workplace are not decreasing. Physical performance generally declines with age, necessitating new ways of organizing work and new forms of robot deployment.
In the IMeRo project, concepts for human-robot collaboration are being developed in collaboration with partners from academia and industry in the two application areas of intralogistics and civil safety/firefighting. The goal is to relieve the physical strain on people in physically demanding work processes through customized human-robot collaboration. The support provided by the assistive robot is designed to adapt to the user’s individual physical capabilities.
