D4 or D4 Max is a mobile robot developed at Dortmund University of Applied Sciences and Arts as part of the project to establish the German Rescue Robotics Center (A-DRZ).
As a robot designed for early fire detection, D4 patrols large areas and detects fires as soon as they start using a variety of sensors. D4 can reach speeds of up to 5 meters per second (18 km/h). The necessary sensors are attached in a modular fashion, depending on the deployment location.
